Students get their M.F.A. in three to five six-week summer sessions. You’ll work with visiting professional faculty, artists-in-residence, and guest speakers, developing personal and professional relationships. This can lead to reading and production credits before graduation.
The Playwright’s Lab features two professional certificate training programs that model best practices. These programs focus on the special skills required to work on new plays in production. They also pair playwrights with actors and directors in dynamic collaborations.

The University of California, Riverside would like to introduce their MFA program in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts. They offer a two-year MFA program offering study in screenwriting, playwriting, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Their goal is to fully fund all of our students for both years in the program through a combination of fellowships and teaching assistantships.
Some of our faculty include: Jane Smiley, Susan Straight, Katie Ford, Reza Aslan, Laila Lalami, Tom Lutz, Stu Krieger, Allison Hedge Coke, and Rickerby Hinds, among many others.
Priority submissions are due December 1, 2017 to be eligible for funding, but they will continue to accept applications from domestic applicants for Fall 2018 entry until September 1, 2018. International applicants may apply through May 1, 2018.
