The L. Tom Perry Special Collections is pleased to announce the availability of two undergraduate fellowships for Fall semester 2018. Fellows will have the opportunity to work closely with a teaching faculty mentor and a Special Collections curator on a project utilizing materials held in Special Collections. This award is presented at the end of each school year to graduating students that are nominated by faculty and peers in their area of study. Finalists are then expected to create a short presentation about their contributions to the department. After these presentations, the faculty will select one student to be an Outstanding Student recipient for each award. Submissions will be accepted until March 2. For more information, click here.
Several years before his death in 1973, Wayne E. Mayhew of Berkeley, California, established a trust fund to provide annual awards in creative writing and fine arts at Brigham Young University in honor of his wife, Vera Hinckley Mayhew, a former BYU student. The first contest, in short story writing, began in 1963–1964 and has continued annually since then. A second contest, in poetry writing, began in 1974–1975. In 1978–1979, four additional contests were started. Since that time, two additional contests were added, making eight annual contests. Submissions are due Tuesday, February 6! The Mary Lou Fulton Scholarship is now accepting admissions! Mary Lou Fulton provides support in the following areas: individual scholarly and creative projects, group scholarships and projects, department initiatives, and program area support. It provides this support through a variety of scholarships, internships, dramaturgy and much more. Submissions due on Friday, February 9! Merit Scholarships are awarded to full-time students majoring in Theatre or Media Arts and the submission deadline is coming up! This scholarship will provide financial assistance for tuition and school fees and recipients can be any full-time, degree-seeking students majoring in the Theatre or Media Arts department.
